Adapted Mind
Number games for Foundation students

Number Trains
Arrange train carriages sequentially. Numbers are represented using words, numbers and MAB. The carriages can be re-ordered as many times as needed to "fit" another carriage. This interactive provides skip counting practice by 2, 5 and 10.

Wishball
Test your understanding of place value in two-digit numbers. Start with a two-digit whole number such as 57. A spinner provides a randomly generated digit. Choose its place value and add it to (or subtract it from) your starting number. Work towards a given target number, for example 12, using other digits. You can choose the final digit (the ‘Wishball’) to reach your target. Be careful not to overshoot (in addition) or undershoot (in subtraction) the target number! Try to achieve it within 20 turns, and in as few turns as possible.

Counting beetles Level 1
In this interactive, beetles crawl into and out of a garden. Students work out how many beetles there are altogether while watching some beetles hide completely or partially beneath the leaves. Students choose a number for their answer and check it.

Wishball hundreds for Year 2
Challenge your understanding of place value in whole numbers up to 999. Receive a starting number, such as 328, and work towards turning it into a target number, such as 177, within 20 turns. Spin a random digit, choose its decimal place value and use the given operation (either addition or subtraction) on your starting number. Be careful not to undershoot your target! Use the ‘Wishball’ to select your final digit. Try to reach the target in as few turns as possible.

Counting beetles Level 2
Watch the beetles crawl into the garden or out of the garden. Watch some beetles completely or partially hide beneath the leaves. Work out how many beetles there are altogether. Choose a number for your answer and check it.

Counting beetles Level 3
Watch the beetles crawl into the garden or out of the garden. Watch some beetles completely or partially hide beneath the leaves. Work out how many beetles there are altogether. Choose a number for your answer and check it.
